How to get small curls with a big curling iron?

im not even sure if thats possible.. but i have a 1 3/4 inch curling iron and it makespretty big curls. i cant get another curling iron but i wanted to know if i could make smaller tighter curls somehow with the one i have. i also have a one inch flat iron if anyone knows how to make tight curls with that.

The best way to get small curls without buying more stuff is to set them over night in rags. It takes a little more time, but they'll last all day, and be tight and spiral-y. You can tear up an old tee-shirt, thin kitchen towel, or even use paper bags cut into strips. You want them about an inch or an inch and a half wide, and 4-5 inches long. Dampen your hair (you can use a setting lotion, too, or spritz your damp hair with spray gel) and roll it up around the fabric or paper (fabric's way easier to sleep on). When you get to your scalp, tie the strip across the curl in a single knot. The bigger the sections of hair you roll, the bigger the curls will be. In the morning, un-tie the rags, and unroll your hair. Use a wide-toothed comb to style.
yea you can use a flat iron...start fairly close to the scalp (but not close enough to accidentally burn it), clamp the iron closed and turn it back on itself a half turn. run the iron slowly down the hairshaft to the end.the slower you move the iron, the tighter the curl... or just use mousse and scrunch. :)
Try using Straighteners it you have them? i use them and just take little sections of your hair that's how i curl my hair and it works really well, hope this helped
i would get a smaller curling iron because if you have a big one then you will obviously get big curls so go buy a smaller one at target (:
